Bankinter exposes an open banking API built on the Berlin Group NextGenPSD2 standard, covering account information (AIS), payment initiation (PIS) and confirmation of funds (CBPII). We have not recorded any premium APIs beyond the regulated PSD2 baseline.
Access uses OAuth 2.0 with redirect SCA, over a REST interface. A self-service sandbox lets you build and test before you apply for production access.
The API is offered in Spain and Portugal, and what is live differs by market (see the table below). BankSnipe rates Bankinter's API maturity 4/5 (Established), last reviewed 15 Jun 2026.

Bankinter API: frequently asked questions
Does Bankinter have a public API?
Yes. Bankinter publishes regulated PSD2 open banking APIs covering account information (AIS), payment initiation (PIS) and confirmation of funds (CBPII). Registration and documentation live on its developer portal at https://market.apis-i.redsys.es/psd2/xs2a/nodos/Bankinter.
Does Bankinter offer an API sandbox?
Yes. The sandbox is self-service, so you can sign up and start calling it without a commercial agreement in place.
Which open banking standard does the Bankinter API use?
Berlin Group NextGenPSD2: the most widely used European open-banking API standard. Two banks on the same standard can still differ in the details, so read the bank's own documentation before you build.
How do you authenticate with the Bankinter API?
OAuth 2.0, with redirect SCA for the customer consent step. Production access to the regulated endpoints also means registering as a licensed third-party provider with the bank.
Does Bankinter offer premium APIs beyond PSD2?
Not that we have recorded. Bankinter's listing covers the regulated PSD2 baseline only.
Which countries does the Bankinter API cover?
Spain and Portugal. The offering is not identical in every market, so check the per-country table on this page.
Is the Bankinter API free to use?
Banks generally do not charge licensed third-party providers for the regulated open banking endpoints, which is the point of the mandate. Premium APIs above that baseline are commercial products priced by the bank. BankSnipe does not track pricing, so confirm it with the bank.
How mature is the Bankinter API?
BankSnipe scores it 4 out of 5 (Established). The score counts how many of the four product signals are live: AIS, PIS, CBPII and premium APIs beyond the regulated PSD2 baseline.
